A packing list will be sent once you confirm your registration and will include the type of attire you need for the activities. But in general. light weight and breathable clothes, natural fabrics such as linen, silk, bamboo, and cotton that will keep you cool and are easy to wash and dry. You will be getting some paint and construction material on them!

Another thing to keep in mind is that most of the people dress very modestly and are a bit conservative.

You will need cash for your meals that are not covered by the program. These include dinner meals and some lunch meals during days that you won’t be volunteering. Other expenses can include souvenir shopping.

ATMS are available in town if you need any extra cash.

This is my first volunteering trip! What should I keep in mind?

For us, volunteering is a lifestyle with basic ethics and accountability that we need to be aware about. Here are just a few tips that you can have in mind once you start volunteering:

  • Show respect for the local culture and customs. Let’s observe first!
  • Have the right intentions and mindset. Why are you volunteering?
  • Dress appropriately. Do I need to be modest? Should I avoid any jewelry?
  • What sort of impact will we be leaving? Is it long term? How beneficial is it? What can I do more?
  • How would I want to be represented if I was a member of this community? Ask permission before taking photos and be mindful of your behavior.
  • How will my behavior change once I am back home? As much as we thing we will give the community, we always learn so much more.

Who do I talk to once I land in Zanzibar?

One of our guides will either be waiting for you or have the transportation arranged from the airport to the hotel for check in.

Make sure you share your ticket with the team as soon as its booked!

Where will I sleep and how often will we be changing our accommodation?

We love to be unique in our accommodation, so you’re in for a surprise!

On this trip we’ll be staying at a 4 stars’ hotel that’s in close proximity to the school we’ll be volunteering at and some local attraction. And it will include breakfast as well!
