Imagine standing on the tallest free standing mountain of the world and roof of this beautiful continent! Kilimanjaro stands proud at 5,895 m (19,340 ft), the highest mountain in Africa! From rainforests, semi arid grasslands, moorlands, rocky desert landscapes, you will be living four seasons in just seven days! Your camps sites will vary each day, but you will always be sleeping under the stars, waking up for beautiful sunrises and by the 3 rd day, camping next to beds of clouds all around you.
The biggest part of why we appreciate this mountain so much is because of the people. The culture and spirit of the Tanzanian mountaineers will make you love this expedition even more. Their chants, talks and motivational songs will stay in your mental playlist for years to come! Ask any Kilimanjaro summiteer who went before.
A mountain filled with surprises, you will summit this mountain and with it gain life changing experiences that will affect you own personal trail for years to come!

You will get to meet our partners and lead guides during the mountain and each one of them will play an amazing role over the next week. Our team will also be doing a quick gear check to make sure you have everything you need.

There’s no going back now!
Once step inside the park, and you are already feeling the vibes of the mountain. After a stop at the registration point, we will grab a quick fast meal before we start for the day.
We will start hiking through a rain forest habitat for around 11 km until we reach Machame Camp.
Elevation: 2865m to 3810m
Another day, another landscape!
The habitat will change once we start our route up to Shira Camp from rain forest to moorlands. Although it’s only 7 km in distance, we will take our time as we jump in elevation.
Elevation: 3810m to 3962m
A long but easy terrain for the day, we will be passing by the infamous Lava Tower (don’t worry! we won’t find any actual lava) as we hike for about 12 km through semi desert habitat to Barranco Camp.
Elevation: 3,900m to 4,000m
Once of the best camps to wake up in, we will hear the hustle and see the vibrant energy of all the other hikers as we go up. After a quick fun scramble up the Barranco Wall, we will hike for almost 7 km through Alpne desert until we reach Karanga Camp for the night.
Elevation: 4,000m to 4663m
Here’s where you start getting those panoramic views over sky bed surroundings. Don’t forget to pause every now and then to take in the scenery around you.
You will hike for about 6 km through Alpine Desert to Barafu Camp.
Elevation: 4663m to 5896m to 3,048m
Starting your ascent for 5km under the stars, you will hike for 5km through arctic surroundings to the summit.
Congratulations! You are now on the roof of Africa.
You will then go back down for 12 km to Mweka Camp site for the last night in the mountain.
We did it!
Elevation: 3028m to 1645m
That morning, when you realize that you might have just had one of the longest days you’ve ever imagined, will also be after one of the most satisfying and well-earned night’s sleep you could ever have.
Let’s wake up to the last hike 10 km of this expedition through lush rain forests as you head back to celebrate with the team and get a good night’s rest.
This marks the end of your Kilimanjaro journey and your departure day.
If you would like to extend for a day or add an Island Life experience to your trip, feel free to reach out and will gladly help.
With an African heartbeat, this is the tallest stand-alone mountain in the world, one of the 7 highest summits and not to mention one of our favorite expeditions!
An experience like no other, hiking Mount Kilimanjaro was never about reaching the summit only. It was about the journey, the many stories that you will hear in between, and how only seven days can change many people’s future.
It also has a very high success rate!
It is very safe. Our local partners make sure that we have everything we need, they lead us through the right path, and all lead guides have the required training to ensure your medical safety.
Everything is covered in terms of accommodation, all the meals, and transportation. The cash that you will need is gratuities for the guides and porters on the last day of the hike and any souvenir shopping once you finish the hike.
Yes, you do. Yellow Fever, Typhoid and some home countries would recommend that you take Hepatitis A and B. The best way is to go to your local hospitals or clinics, and they will have the list of the recommended vaccines.
Kilimanjaro requires a high fitness level with two to three months of training depending on how active you generally are. Having both endurance and stamina as a goal, a cardio based training along with focusing on strengthening certain muscles is all you need for the mountain.
So yes, you can definitely do it.
Being mentally, physically and emotionally prepared for that 7 day hiking challenge that will impact you in so many ways is something we have been trained to do for 6 years now!
A certain physical fitness is required as a minimum, but the more you train, the better! You will need the correct set of gear and clothes with you. And most importantly, you need to be ready mentally and emotionally as you will be far out of your comfort zone for 7 days. And believe us, you will enjoy and laugh on every bit of it.
The most question we get during the climb is “how much longer?”. And we always advice that this should be the last thing you think about during your hike! Instead, try to enjoy the diverse scenery that you get every day and walk in a pace that is comfortable for you and is recommended by the guides.
It takes an average of 8 to 10 hours of walking every day except for the summit night which is longer. The hours per day can change based on overall fitness of the group, the weather during the climb, and the pace that the guides set for the whole group.
No technical experience is required for the hike. You will be able to rent walking hiking poles once you reach to aid you through the climb.
The ultimate goal of our guides is to make sure that you reach Kilimanjaro, keeping your safety the utmost priority. The team is trained to diagnose any symptoms that you might have from altitude or fatigue and make any arrangements necessary. Each hiker will also be insured during the seven day climb for any evacuation procedure needed.
A packing list will be sent as soon as you confirm your participation in the trip. This will include clothes, bags, footwear, and some accessories. The rest of the camping equipment will be provided by us.
Any dietary restriction will be catered for. As for our daily menu, it will be a balanced diet, with a lot of carbs and protein. And yes, it will taste good, don’t worry!
The default is you sharing a room and a tent with someone. If you wish to have single occupancy, this can be provided for the tent. As for the accommodation prior and after the hike, it will depend on availability.
A private camp bathroom will be available at each camp site as soon as you arrive. Along the way, you will be one with the nature with some of the best views possible.
